Backseat Champions Sets November 13 Early Access Launch
Racing roguelite autobattler Backseat Champions enters Early Access on November 13, with a free demo available now and Steam Workshop track sharing.
Backseat Champions will enter Early Access on November 13, the game's developer has announced. A demo of the game is already available to play, according to gamingonlinux.com.
The game is a racing roguelite autobattler in which players manage a driver rather than drive directly. During a race they pick upgrades mid-race, call pit stops and choose between 7 tire compounds. Races feature machine-learned drivers, dynamic weather and the Safety Car.
Backseat Champions ships with 8 car classes, online matchmaking for up to 12 players, 4-player local splitscreen and Steam Remote Play. A tool called TrackForge lets players build and share custom tracks through the Steam Workshop.
The developer said no AI-generated content is in the game, and that the drivers use traditional machine learning.
The developer previously interned at Larian Studios in Ghent, working on the Definitive Edition of Divinity: Original Sin 2, and spent 5 years as a network programmer on the Skyrim Together multiplayer mod.
