Bethesda confirms Fallout 5 in development, plus Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters

Todd Howard said Bethesda's engine and technology now let multiple teams work on separate projects at the same time.

Bethesda has confirmed that Fallout 5 is in development, and that remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are real. The studio did not give a release date for any of the three projects, according to screenrant.com.

Studio head Todd Howard discussed the projects with Windows Central. He said Bethesda's technology and engine now allow multiple teams to work in parallel, which lets the studio move several titles forward at once.

Howard also said Bethesda remains committed to user-created content, the mod support the studio has built into its games for years.

Long-standing support for mods

That commitment dates back decades: since Morrowind, Bethesda has backed community-made content, and Howard insisted The Elder Scrolls Construction Set ship with the game on a separate disc. Games such as Skyrim remain active long after release thanks to their communities of content creators.

The Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remasters had circulated in rumors for a long time before this confirmation.
