Bandai Namco Plans Console Gore Update for The Blood of Dawnwalker in Early 2027

The publisher said on its Japanese X account that the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S update is planned for early 2027, with details to follow closer to release.

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced on its Japanese official X account that an update lifting gore and violence restrictions for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of The Blood of Dawnwalker is planned for early 2027. The publisher said details of the console update's contents and release timing will be announced closer to release, according to gamespark.jp.

The game is developed by Rebel Wolves and takes place in an open-world dark fantasy setting, with the protagonist Coen living as a human by day and a vampire by night.

The console announcement follows a similar move on PC. On October 16, an update numbered 1.1 was announced as scheduled for the following week, including the lifting of gore and violence restrictions for the Japanese Steam version.

After the game's release on September 3, players had pointed out that the Japanese version's restrictions were too strict and affected both gameplay and the story experience, and that the Steam version carried the same restrictions as the console versions.

On September 4, the Japanese official X account posted a message from Rebel Wolves stating that an investigation toward lifting the restrictions was underway.
