The Blood of Dawnwalker Update 1.1 Removes Japanese Steam Censorship

Rebel Wolves announced that update 1.1 for The Blood of Dawnwalker will be released next week, according to gamespark.jp. The update removes the blood and gore censorship applied to the Japanese version of the game on Steam, as stated in the patch notes.

Update 1.1 adds a skill-reset feature called Draught of Mind Rebirth, which lets players reset and re-learn swordplay, sorcery, and vampire abilities. It also adds the ability to pet dogs and cats.

The update renames the existing Story difficulty to Forgiving and introduces a new Story mode with combat assistance. Subtitle settings are expanded to allow increasing the font size and enabling subtitles for all conversations.

Update 1.1 includes over 1,100 improvements and fixes, along with updates to FrameGen, camera, combat, and movement.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a dark fantasy action RPG set in 14th-century Europe, where the protagonist is human by day and a vampire-like Dawnwalker by night. It was released on September 3.

On May 18, before release, the official website published a notice about differences between the Japanese and overseas versions, explaining that the Japanese version would change some sexual content as well as blood, extreme violence and death scenes. After release, social media and Japanese Steam reviews pointed out that blood in combat was toned down and that injured characters showed no blood on their skin, revealing the Steam version had the same restrictions as the console Japanese version. On September 4, the official X account stated that work had begun to add other language versions and to remove the restrictions on blood depiction.
