Bobby Kotick Joins Skydance Board as Independent Director

The former Activision Blizzard CEO, credited with 32 years building the company, takes a board seat at the studio behind Paramount Games and Warner Bros Games.

Bobby Kotick has joined Skydance's board of directors as an independent director, the company confirmed, according to pcgamer.com. Skydance credited Kotick with building Activision Blizzard into one of the world's most successful videogame companies during his 32 years as CEO.

Skydance CEO David Ellison said Kotick brings perspective on building enduring franchises and connecting with fans.

Skydance was formed by Paramount's acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery. Its portfolio includes Paramount Games and Warner Bros Games, which a Variety report says will be merged into a single entity.

Kotick left Activision Blizzard and the videogame industry at the end of 2023, following the company's acquisition by Microsoft.

Past legal settlements

In 2021, Activision Blizzard faced allegations of "unlawful harassment, discrimination, and retaliation" and a lawsuit from California's Department of Fair Employment and Housing. In December 2023, the company paid $54 million to settle pay and promotion inequity claims and set aside $47 million for gender discrimination accusations, with the California Civil Rights Department dropping its sexual harassment suit. Earlier in 2023, Activision Blizzard paid $35 million to settle an SEC complaint over whistleblower protection rules and investor disclosure.
