Bungie Dates Destiny 2 Unvaulting to 2028 at the Earliest
Bungie said the work is still in pre-production, with full production expected by February 2027 and a roughly 12-month schedule.
Bungie has outlined the timeline for restoring Destiny 2's removed campaigns, saying the content is expected no earlier than 2028. The studio detailed the schedule in a blog post reported by Rock Paper Shotgun.
The first pass of unvaulting will cover campaign, Strike and raid activity content from expansions taken out of the game, along with the Menagerie activity and reprised rewards. The list includes the Red War, Forsaken, Curse of Osiris and Warmind campaigns, plus their Strikes, raids and raid lairs.
Work on the project began in June with feasibility scoping and remains in pre-production, according to the post. Full production is expected to start by February 2027 at the latest and to take about 12 months.
Bungie is also investigating stretch goals, including free roam destinations, seasonal activities from Sundial in season 9 through The Coil in season 32, weapon updates for raids and raid lairs, and PvP maps.
The studio mentioned an upcoming celebration beyond Moment of Triumph with new updates, along with something called Destiny "Legacy", and teased "Redacted" with the line "Launch Ventrilo Message: We're back". The next major communications update is expected in February.
Earlier announcements
In October 2026, Bungie announced it would bring back all of Destiny 2's vaulted campaigns. Earlier in the year, the studio said it would stop work on major updates for the game.
