Cookie Run: OvenBreak marks 10th anniversary with Seoul festival

Devsisters hosted the Cookie Run Grand Festival at Seoul Children's Grand Park, where the director outlined the anniversary update and future plans.

Devsisters held the Cookie Run Grand Festival, a unified offline event for the Cookie Run IP, at Seoul Children's Grand Park on October 24 and 25 to mark the 10th anniversary of Cookie Run: OvenBreak. The festival featured experience zones, a pop-up store and a World Championship, according to game.donga.com.

On the opening day, the game's director held a media roundtable and presented the 10th anniversary update along with the future service vision for the title.

At the roundtable, the director said about one third of current players joined in 2016, the year the game launched. He also named Thailand, Taiwan, Japan and the US as countries where he hopes to hold finals in the future.

Asked about possible tie-ins, the director mentioned Chiikawa and Crayon Shin-chan as ideas discussed internally for future collaborations.

Ten years of a running game

Cookie Run: OvenBreak launched in 2016, and the Cookie Run IP began as a running game. Over the past decade, the game's direction sometimes differed from what the developers thought right and was changed through player feedback, according to the roundtable.

The anniversary event includes a jumping event that raises a first cookie to max level for new and returning players. Cookie Run: OvenBreak has also run esports competitions, with finals held in Korea so far.
