Denmu closes oversubscribed debut games fund above $50 million target

The investment firm also disclosed stakes in Fuse Games' Star Wars: Galactic Racer, Maverick Games' Clutch and two other titles, plus a PlayStation China Hero Project partnership.

Investment firm Denmu has closed its debut fund after surpassing its initial $50 million target, with the fund oversubscribed, gamesindustry.biz reported on November 5, 2026. The company also disclosed a series of game investments alongside the close.

The disclosed deals include an investment in Guildford-based Fuse Games and its debut title Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and in Maverick Games' Clutch, following Maverick's partnership with Focus Entertainment. Denmu also backed Kyle Thompson's Well Dweller, which is published by Denmu affiliate Top Hat Studios, and Dark Star Games' DABA: Land of Water.

Separately, Denmu said it has become a strategic partner of PlayStation's China Hero Project.

Denmu launched its debut fund with the $50 million target earlier in 2026. Chief executive Ryan You previously described that initial fund as a prototype rather than something that would change the industry.

In June 2026 the firm had invested in projects including The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, Bleach: Soul Resonance, Labyrinth of the Demon King, MotorSlice and Silly Polybeast.
