Diablo 4 Season 16 Adds War Plans Tactics Skill Tree

Blizzard Entertainment has detailed War Plans Tactics, a new meta-progression system for Diablo 4's War Plans that arrives with Season 16, according to GameSpot. The season hits the public test realm on October 27 and runs there until November 3.

Under the new system, players earn points by completing War Plan activities and invest them into nodes, raising the chance that preferred activities or rewards appear. Up to three points can be assigned per endgame activity and up to three per reward type. Placing at least one point into Helltides or Nightmare dungeons unlocks options for Greater Helltides and Escalation Nightmare dungeons respectively.

Reward nodes cover armor, weapons, jewelry, Obducite, salvage, gems, gold, activity keys, Horadric Cube materials and Talisman items. Season 16 also adds a seasonal War Plans tree called Tyrael's Boons, which offers four paths — Curious Addition, Merchant of Mystery, Scent of Gold and Trash for Treasure — each letting players choose up to four of six nodes.

Rerolling War Plans will consume a new currency called Marks of Wisdom, which caps at 20. The season additionally introduces Horadric legendaries that synergize with specific Talisman charms, and Horadric legendary jewelry counts toward Talisman set bonuses.

War Plans first arrived earlier in 2026 as part of Diablo 4's second and final expansion, Lord of Hatred, an endgame system for assembling a playlist of activities ranked up through a skill tree. Before Season 16, the system gave minimal control over which activities appeared and allowed only a limited number of rerolls. The full Season 16 launches on December 1.
