Direland gets new gameplay trailer as solo dev targets 2027

The isometric sandbox survival game from Tokyo-based creator Kaijiuuuuu shows off biomes, block-stacking terrain and giant boss creatures.

A new gameplay trailer for Direland, the solo-developed open-world sandbox survival game, has been released, according to gamerant.com. The game is still in early development.

Direland is the work of Kaijiuuuuu, a Tokyo-based creator, and is described as an isometric take on Minecraft. It is being built on a custom engine.

The trailer shows terrain that can be broken into blocks and stacked freely, though caves cannot be created. Confirmed features also include responsive terrain, different biomes, a housing system, melee combat and build-crafting. Multiplayer is in development.

Giant bosses and a 2027 target

Among the bosses shown in the trailers are a giant lobster-like monster near a beach and a massive sandworm-like creature in the desert. The developer appears to be targeting a 2027 release.

In earlier updates, the developer said Direland surpassed 50,000 wishlists on Steam in September 2026. Kaijiuuuuu has also said on Twitter that they have not played Minecraft Dungeons and are aiming for an action-oriented sandbox experience inspired by Minecraft, Core Keeper, Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter.
