Dispatch marks one year with concert, mobile launch
AdHoc Studio adds commentary and storyboard mode to the deluxe edition, while Lost in Cult prepares a vinyl set and book.
AdHoc Studio has announced a set of anniversary releases for Dispatch, according to gamesindustry.biz. The game has now been played by more than 5 million people.
The deluxe edition is gaining a new commentary track and a storyboard mode. Lost in Cult is producing a soundtrack vinyl set and a book tied to the game.
Two dated events are planned: a Dispatch concert in Los Angeles on December 3, and a mobile launch on December 9.
The announcement comes a year after the first episode of Dispatch was released in October 2025. In November 2025, AdHoc Studio said the game was on track to beat its three-year sales target after just three months, and it went on to become one of the biggest surprise successes of 2025.
Eight episodes, finished at the wire
AdHoc Studio CEO and co-founder Michael Choung said the team had to finish work on each of the game's eight episodes right up to the last minute before release. The studio was founded in 2019 by four Telltale alumni — Choung, Nick Herman, Dennis Lenart and Pierre Shorette — and cites Tales from the Borderlands as a reference for character-driven design.
An initial publisher funded Dispatch up to a certain point and then dropped the studio roughly a third of the way through. After a trailer was shown at The Game Awards in December 2024, Critical Role stepped forward with finishing funds alongside other partners.
