Alliance Arts Cancels Drunken Goddess Reflux Demo Over AI Copycat Fears

The studio will run closed online play sessions instead, distributing demo keys and gathering feedback through its Discord group.

Alliance Arts has canceled the planned public demo for its upcoming game Drunken Goddess Reflux, the studio announced on October 16, 2026. The demo was scrapped over concerns that its content could be used to imitate or replicate the game's presentation and gameplay with AI or other tools and released before launch.

Instead of a public demo, Alliance Arts will hold closed online play sessions for a limited number of players. The studio plans to distribute demo keys and collect feedback through its Discord group. According to GameSpot, the developer also said it cannot properly manage restrictions on posting and streaming content from the game.

Drunken Goddess Reflux was revealed several months ago and is currently one of the top 100 most-wishlisted games on Steam. It officially launches on December 8 for PC.

Copycat concerns in the Steam ecosystem

The decision follows recent cases of rapid clones appearing on Steam. Needle in a Haystack was announced in August and a clip of its gameplay went viral, after which clones appeared. Meccha Chameleon also faced copycats shortly after its release.
