Fan builds tombstone memorial for EA-shut studios outside EA office
Tombstones for Bullfrog, Pandemic, Visceral, Westwood, Origin, Maxis and BioWare appeared around Halloween, each with logos, dates and a quote.
A fan set up a graveyard display of tombstones for studios shut down by EA outside an EA office over Halloween, according to Polygon. Tombstones were made for Bullfrog, Pandemic, Visceral, Westwood, Origin, Maxis and BioWare.
Each tombstone carried the studio's logo, its establishment and closure dates, a quote and “RIP.” The creator said they ran out of time to make more tombstones.
BioWare's tombstone quotes a line from the character Mordin Solus in Mass Effect 3.
Earlier protests
In October, EA officially shut down BioWare, the studio behind Mass Effect, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Dragon Age. BioWare had been working on Mass Effect Universe for over five years before the closure.
Other fan actions followed: in Madrid, someone spray-painted “Save Mass Effect” outside an EA office building, and in New York City fans paid for a “save Mass Effect” billboard in Times Square.
