Evil Empire says its dream collaboration is already in the works

The Dead Cells co-developer's business chief says it is too early to share details, while the studio expands its live-ops work with Brotato.

Evil Empire is already working on what its leadership calls the studio's dream collaboration, though the team is not ready to say what it involves. CEO Thomas Pfeiffer and Head of Business Ben Laulan discussed the project in an interview with PCGamesN.

Laulan said it is too early to talk about the collaboration, but that the team is extremely excited about it. Neither executive gave a title, partner or release window.

Pfeiffer also said the studio is expanding its live-ops division around Brotato and potentially other partners, and that Evil Empire could be pictured working on two or three games in parallel at different stages.

The studio continues to run the Triple-i Initiative, the showcase event it uses to spotlight indie games.

Dead Cells still on the studio's mind

Laulan said Evil Empire will always miss Dead Cells, the game that allowed the studio to be founded. Evil Empire began as four co-founders working on Dead Cells while the rest of Motion Twin went on to build Windblown, and it has been just over two years since the studio ended work on the game.

Pfeiffer and Laulan both spent several years at Motion Twin before Evil Empire was created. The studio grew to 15 developers at first and eventually to 50 with the launches of The Rogue Prince of Persia and Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.
