The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Confirmed for Spring 2027 Release
Owlcat Games' third-person action RPG puts players in command of a customizable mercenary rather than James Holden.
Owlcat Games has confirmed that The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, a third-person action RPG set in the universe of The Expanse, will launch in spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, according to Screen Rant. The game casts players as a customizable mercenary working for Pinkwater Security rather than as series protagonist James Holden.
At the start, players choose an Earther, Martian or Belter background for their captain. The story opens with a visit to Eros Station that goes wrong and draws the protagonist into a conspiracy tied to Protogen.
Gameplay combines RPG progression, squad-based combat with companion commands, branching dialogue and decisions. The narrative runs alongside the events of the first two books by James S.A. Corey and roughly the first two and a half seasons of the television series, a period that includes the destruction of the Canterbury.
Built on Owlcat's RPG experience
Owlcat Games previously developed Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. The Expanse television series ran for six seasons and largely followed Holden and the crew of the Rocinante, while the original saga spans nine novels.
