Altergaze's cozy train sim The Veil Express hits Steam December 2

The management game tasks players with hiding a magic train of goblins, witches and vampires from inquisitors; a demo is out now.

Altergaze has announced The Veil Express, a cozy management game set aboard a magic train that humans cannot see, according to GameSpark. The game is scheduled for release on Steam on December 2, and a demo is available now.

Players take the role of a conductor who houses goblins, witches, fairies, ghosts and vampires on the train. Keeping the service running means protecting it from inquisitors by maintaining the magic known as the "Veil", which grows stronger when passengers are happy and weakens when they are not.

That balance shapes how the train is built: adding new rooms and running workshops both consume Veil power. The train offers six carriage types, from standard carriages to three-storey ones, with player-placed stairs, naming and paint choices, drawn from a pool of 42 rooms and 14 items.

The game includes five journeys — The Longest Journey, Veil of Night, Separate Paths, Lost Carriages and Sandbox Express — and The Longest Journey alone offers five endings. The route passes through eight lands, from Mistmarsh to Frostpeak.
