Fallout 76 passes 25 million lifetime players, Bethesda says

Creative Director Jonathan Rush and Production Director Bill LaCoste announced the milestone in a Fallout Day 2026 video that also previewed the World Pets update.

Bethesda confirmed that Fallout 76 has surpassed 25 million lifetime players, a milestone announced in a video during the Fallout Day celebrations in late October 2026, according to gamerant.com. Creative Director Jonathan Rush and Production Director Bill LaCoste presented the figure and thanked the community.

The video was largely devoted to a preview of the upcoming World Pets update. The pair said Bethesda remains committed to a steady content pipeline for the multiplayer title.

Fallout 76 will mark its eighth anniversary on November 14. The game launched in November 2018 to a less-than-stellar reception, and the Wastelanders expansion in April 2020 added NPCs, dialogue trees, factions, a reputation system and a new main storyline.

The player count has climbed steadily in recent years: Bethesda reported 11 million players in November 2021, 12 million by June 2022, 15 million by June 2023 and 17 million in December 2023. The figure reached 20 million in May 2024 and 23 million in June 2025.

Fallout 76 has been available on Xbox Game Pass since July 2020 and later joined the PlayStation Now catalog, which was folded into modern PS Plus tiers. It was also one of the PS Plus monthly games for January 2023.
