Bethesda Previews Fallout 76 World Pets for December 2026
The planned update adds a Pets tab to the Pip-Boy Stats menu, letting players summon an owned C.A.M.P. Pet as a travel companion.
Bethesda has previewed Fallout 76 content planned for December 2026 and Spring 2027, including an update called World Pets, according to gamerant.com. The studio outlined the pet system and its rules in the preview.
The World Pets update lets players summon an owned C.A.M.P. Pet as a travel companion through a new Pets tab in the Pip-Boy Stats menu. Commands include Stay, Neutral, Attack and Protect, with quick access added to the emote wheel.
Rules for pets in the wasteland
Pets share the same HP across species, can be downed and need a Stimpak to revive; other players can also give them one. They are immune to Radiation and Diseases and cannot be damaged by other players, but they cannot enter Raids or Shelters or swim underwater. Pets attack only enemy NPCs and never other players or their pets.
Pets gain XP while active alongside the player and can reach a maximum level of 200. Leveling is tracked per species, so leveling one dog raises all dogs to the same level. Each pet carries two passive buffs, one granting an item and one improving rewards in a specific activity, and these can be used on other species once unlocked.
During testing, all accounts received one pet of each species, though at release players keep only pets they had previously obtained. The preview also referenced species and variants including the Deathclaw, Radhog, Glowing Radhog and RoboPaw Steel Dog, along with pet progression systems.
