Fan-Made PS1-Style Resident Evil: The Movie The Game Clip Surfaces
Developer Julian Zamora shared a Godot-built clip of Resident Evil: The Movie The Game, recreating a barn scene from Zach Cregger's film.
Developer Julian Zamora, who posts online as chicanogoth, has shared a clip of a fan-made PS1-style game inspired by Zach Cregger's Resident Evil film, titled Resident Evil: The Movie The Game. GamesRadar reported on the project.
The clip recreates an early scene from the film, with a barn and an infected dog chasing the player character. The game uses fixed camera angles in the manner of the classic PS1 Resident Evil titles.
The project is being built on the Godot engine. Zamora said they are still unsure how to create the pre-rendered flat environments associated with the PS1 era, and noted that the look is closer to Resident Evil Code Veronica.
Film success behind the project
Cregger's Resident Evil reboot has been a major box office success, outgrossing his previous horror film Weapons. GamesRadar's review called it the best video game movie.
Game designer Hideo Kojima also reviewed the film, saying it reminded him of playing the first game.
