Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions mobile adds gamepad support and 60fps

Square Enix's October 19, 2026 update for the iOS and Android release also adds a fast-forward option and a revised battle UI.

Square Enix released an update for the iOS and Android version of Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions on October 19, 2026. The patch adds gamepad support, a speed-up feature, a revised battle UI and 60fps support, along with bug fixes.

The mobile version of the game is priced at 1,900 yen. The update is available now for existing owners, according to gamespark.jp.

What the update changes

The additions target the game's moment-to-moment play: the speed-up option shortens battle pacing, the revised battle UI changes how commands and information are laid out on screen, and 60fps support raises the frame rate on supported devices. Gamepad support lets players use a physical controller instead of touch controls.

The War of the Lions, a remake of Final Fantasy Tactics, first arrived on PSP in 2007. The iOS version followed in 2011 and the Android version in 2013.

The release includes extra jobs such as Onion Knight and Dark Knight, plus recruitable characters including Balthier and Luso, which the remaster Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles does not include. In an overseas developer interview about that remaster, the developers said adding The War of the Lions elements was considered, but the focus was on delivering an experience close to the original version.
