Final Fantasy VII Revelation Targets Graphics Above Rebirth on Switch 2
Naoki Hamaguchi says the Switch 2 version is in development alongside all other platforms, aiming to surpass Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's visual quality.
Naoki Hamaguchi said the team is developing the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy VII Revelation simultaneously with all other platforms, according to wccftech.com. The goal, he said, is to raise graphics quality and presentation above the level of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Hamaguchi pointed to the experience gained while porting Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to Switch 2, saying it will help narrow the gap on lower-spec platforms. Optimization for Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be handled at a higher level than for Rebirth, he added, thanks to the knowledge the team has accumulated.
FITS system changes basic attacks
The FITS system in Final Fantasy VII Revelation is said to change characters' basic attack strings for certain FITS. A YouTube video by BltzZ showed NYCC demo footage in which Tifa, in the Black Mage FITS, fires magic orbs at the end of her basic combo.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation was announced in June during Summer Game Fest. A playable demo of the game's first chapter was shown at this year's Tokyo Game Show and at gamescom 2026. Square Enix previously released Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Switch 2, a version Hamaguchi said he was very satisfied with.
