Fuse Games Head: Drive to Survive Inspired Galactic Racer
Matt Webster says the Netflix Formula 1 series shaped Star Wars: Galactic Racer from the start, as a full GamesIndustry.biz interview is due later today.
Matt Webster, head of Fuse Games, has said the Netflix series Drive to Survive was an inspiration for Star Wars: Galactic Racer from the start, according to gamesindustry.biz. A full interview with Webster, conducted at Game Republic New Horizons, will be published later today.
Webster said the game features sequences where players interact with characters in the racing paddock of each track, and that the paddock is important both for immersing players in the Star Wars setting and for the game's pacing.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer launched on October 6 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, and is also available on Amazon's Luna streaming service. The PS5 version holds a Metacritic score of 88.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz earlier this year, Webster said there was a gap in the market for Star Wars: Galactic Racer, the first Star Wars racing game since 2002.
