Game of Thrones: War for Westeros Arrives in 2027

PlaySide Studios will release the strategy game in 2027, with Arya Stark and The Mountain among the playable characters, per Game Rant.

PlaySide Studios is developing and publishing Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, a strategy game set for release in 2027, according to Game Rant. The title draws on the world of the Game of Thrones franchise and puts players in command of its rival houses.

Arya Stark and The Mountain are playable characters, with Arya fighting for House Stark and The Mountain for House Lannister. Players can also choose commanders for House Stark, House Targaryen and House Lannister.

The Night King and the White Walkers can be controlled by players as well. Characters can be slain during the campaign and multiplayer matches, and the survivor takes the Iron Throne.

The game supports online co-op and online multiplayer. No price or specific launch date beyond 2027 was announced.

Background

Some of the characters featured in the game have tangled histories in the source material. In the TV show, The Hound kills The Mountain in Season 8, presumably dying in the process, while Oberyn Martell killed The Mountain via poison in their Season 4 duel before perishing himself. The Mountain was later brought back through alchemy and necromancy by Maester Qyburn. Author George R. R. Martin has repeatedly delayed the sixth book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series and said in a blog post that his health and the loss of loved ones have affected his work.
