Atari confirms Japan release for Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered

Atari told Game*Spark by email that the remaster will launch in Japan with console versions, though PS5 and Switch 2 store pages are not yet up.

Atari has confirmed that Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered will be officially released in Japan, including its console versions. The publisher gave the confirmation to Game*Spark by email.

At the time of writing, the Steam store page for the PC version is viewable, as is the Japanese store page for the Xbox Series X|S version. Japanese store pages for the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 versions could not be confirmed.

The demo currently distributed on Steam supports single-player, local multiplayer and online multiplayer. That demo is available only until October 27.

The picture changed during October. As of Game*Spark's September report, the game was believed to have no Japanese release, and the Steam store page was not viewable from Japan. In mid-October the page became viewable from Japan, alongside a translated store description and a demo with Japanese support; at that point, no Japanese store page for the console versions could be confirmed.

The remaster is developed by Pipeworks, the same studio behind the original. The original Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee was released for the GameCube in 2002 and features monsters including King Ghidorah.
