GOG issues new Oblivion PC build with modern controller support
The DRM-free build also fixes Alt+Tab switching, patches a memory leak when rebinding controls and adds five complete localizations.
GOG released a new PC build of the original The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion on October 15, 2026, labeled version 1.2.0416 GOG v3. The update adds support for modern controllers and several technical fixes, according to gamerant.com.
The build adds compatibility with DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox controllers, the Nintendo Switch Pro, Amazon Luna, Google Stadia and Nvidia Shield gamepads. It also introduces controller hotplugging and an optimized default controller layout.
On the technical side, GOG fixed Alt+Tab task switching and a memory leak that could occur while rebinding controls. The build establishes full compatibility with Windows 10 and Windows 11 and adds five complete localizations.
The release is part of GOG's Preservation Program and ships DRM-free with offline installers. The program launched in 2024 and now covers more than 300 games, including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and the original Thief; GOG says it has made over 1,700 individual improvements across its releases.
Oblivion originally arrived in 2006. Bethesda and Virtuos released Oblivion Remastered in 2025, rebuilding visuals, animations and effects and updating leveling and controls.
