Grounded 2 Rot and Ruin Update Adds Woodpile, Centipede Boss

Obsidian detailed the Woodpile area, termites, a rideable beetle buggy and Bismuth upgrades in the Grounded 2 update.

Obsidian Entertainment has announced Rot and Ruin, a new update for Grounded 2 that adds the Woodpile area, termites, a centipede boss and a rideable beetle buggy, according to Xbox Wire. The studio detailed the update in a post by senior communications manager Shyla Schofield.

Woodpile is described as a new area built around towering structures and winding paths. Termites return with worker and soldier variants, a termite king and a new O.G.R.R. variant. The update also introduces a centipede boss, a creature Obsidian says the community has requested heavily.

The new Colorado beetle buggy is larger than the existing ladybug buggy, fires wide forward shots and can heal with an ability called Healing Roar. Players can also craft paint and use a new paintball gun, the Splotcher, to colour walls, floors, roofs, stairs and doors.

Rot and Ruin adds Bismuth, a resource tied to RS particles beneath the park that lets players upgrade weapons and armour to higher tiers. It is refined with a new device called the Yoking Press. New SCA.B themes, collectible miniatures and new facilities round out the update.

Where to play

Grounded 2 is available in Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, including Game Pass, and in Early Access on Steam and PlayStation 5. Obsidian plans to release version 1.0 in 2027.
