Rockstar Details GTA 6 Weather: Dynamic Clouds, Hurricanes
Rockstar's Owen Shepherd says GTA 6 re-engineers weather with dynamic cloudscapes, localized rain, new wind and hurricanes. Launches Nov 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Rockstar Games has detailed a re-engineered weather system for Grand Theft Auto 6, according to comments from the studio's Owen Shepherd reported by Game Informer. The system is designed to make weather more localized and persistent across the game's map.
Shepherd said GTA 6 will feature fully dynamic cloudscapes that roll across the world, along with localized rain showers. After rain, players will see rainbows, wet surfaces and puddles.
The game also adds a new wind system. It includes offshore breezes after sunset, convectional updrafts and occlusion from buildings. Tropical storms, hurricanes, thunder and lightning are part of the weather mix as well.
Release and pricing
Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The standard edition is priced at $80, while the Ultimate Edition costs $100.
Rockstar is also selling a $400 collector's edition that includes physical items but does not include the game itself.
