Sensor Tower Estimates 7.71 Million GTA VI Pre-Purchases, 74% on PS5
The tracker estimate puts gross revenue at about $751 million, with 5.74 million units on PS5 and 1.97 million on Xbox Series X|S.
Sensor Tower has updated its Grand Theft Auto VI sales tracker, estimating 7.71 million pre-purchase units ahead of the game's November 19 launch, according to GameSpot. The estimate puts gross pre-purchase revenue at about $751 million.
PS5 accounts for the largest share of that estimate, at 5.74 million units or 74% of the total, worth roughly $559 million. Xbox Series X|S accounts for 1.97 million units, or 26%, estimated at about $192 million.
Sensor Tower projects pre-purchases could reach up to 25 million units by launch. Separate data from Circana shows GTA VI with 29% purchase intent among US console and PC gamers, the highest the firm has measured for any game.
The game launches November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with a file size of about 212GB, and preloading begins more than a week before release. It unlocks at midnight local time, with players in New Zealand first and US players among the last.
Platform split follows Sony's marketing lead
Sony holds the marketing rights for GTA VI on PS5, and the PS5 has outsold Xbox Series X|S in overall console sales. Microsoft said GTA VI is breaking records on Xbox and, in October 2025, announced a GTA VI-inspired custom Xbox console housed inside an alligator.
