Jennifer Hale Responds to Leaked Mass Effect 5 Trailer

The voice of female Commander Shepard says the trailer was 'extraordinary' and that she holds hope the game will still be made, after EA closed BioWare.

Jennifer Hale, the voice actor for female Commander Shepard in the Mass Effect series, publicly commented on a re-upload of the leaked Mass Effect 5 trailer, according to IGN.

In a post on X/Twitter, Hale called the trailer "extraordinary" and said she is holding hope for the game to still be made.

Two days before that post, Hale and Mark Meer, who voiced male Commander Shepard, went live on Instagram to address fans about EA's decision. Hale said she feels for the BioWare employees who are suddenly unemployed.

Meer called the news sad and a massive loss for Edmonton, Canada, and the game industry. Hale speculated that EA might sell the IPs to boost profit margins.

In October 2025, EA announced it is closing BioWare, the studio behind Dragon Age and Mass Effect, and revealed that the next Mass Effect game, supposedly titled Mass Effect Universe, was canceled. Former staff on the project spoke out online, and one leaked a full-length trailer for the game on Reddit.
