Toei Animation, Voltage Reveal Otome Game Kakan Ruirui for Switch
Kakan Ruirui: The Caged Lantern of Yomi is set for a 2027 digital release on Nintendo Switch with English and Japanese support.
Toei Animation and Voltage announced Kakan Ruirui: The Caged Lantern of Yomi, a dark fantasy otome game, for a 2027 digital release on Nintendo Switch. The project will launch under Voltage's AmuLit brand and will support both English and Japanese, according to cbr.com.
Kazuki Yone, known for Hakuoki, is providing illustrations, while Ririka Yoshimura, known for Cupid Parasite, is handling scenario writing and co-directing with Voltage's Rei Misaki. Naohiro Yuki is handling background art, Yamato is composing the soundtrack, and Arika will perform the main theme.
The production team includes Voltage's Satoshi Nohara alongside Toei Animation's Hiroaki Shibata and Honoka Kishi as producers.
First look set for Animate Girls Festival 2026
The first teaser trailer will be revealed at Animate Girls Festival 2026, held on Nov. 7 and 8 in Ikebukuro. The main characters will be introduced on Nov. 7 at 12 p.m. JST.
It has not been confirmed whether the game will also come to Nintendo Switch 2, and no price has been announced.
AmuLit has previously released titles including even if TEMPEST, The Red Bell's Lament and Neon Clash -Echoes of the Lost-. Yamato worked on The Red Bell's Lament, and Naohiro Yuki previously worked on Arknights: RISE FROM EMBER.
