King signs collective agreement with Swedish unions

King has signed a collective agreement with Swedish trade unions Unionen and Sveriges Ingenjörer, ending a dispute that had escalated to a strike threat. The agreement follows a call to industrial action by Unionen members last week.

Unionen members had sought job security and greater influence over workplace terms and conditions. The deal was reached after more than a year of negotiations, according to gamesindustry.biz.

Unionen head of negotiations Martin Wästfelt commented on the agreement. Henrik Jönsson, a board member of the Unionen branch at King, also featured in the discussions.

King chief operating officer Ulrika Höjgård had responded to the initial call to industrial action. In June, King president Todd Green told employees in an email that the decision to reject the collective bargaining agreement was not made lightly.
