Korean Assembly audit faults game rating body's item-probability monitoring
Lawmaker Jeong Jun-ho said a January inspection covered only 128 cases against a monthly average of 1,190, and chairman Seo Tae-geon pledged countermeasures.
At a National Assembly audit of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee on October 12, Democratic Party lawmaker Jeong Jun-ho questioned Game Rating and Administration Committee chairman Seo Tae-geon over what he described as a weak post-monitoring system for probability-type item disclosure, according to ZDNet Korea.
Jeong said the committee's fixed-term investigator quota is 24 positions, while actual staffing stands at 18 — a shortfall of 25 percent.
He also said January inspection results totaled only 128 cases, roughly 10 percent of the monthly average of 1,190 cases.
Chairman Seo Tae-geon promised at the audit to prepare measures to secure professional inspection personnel. The committee has not announced a timeline for those measures.
Background
Disclosure of probability-type item information became mandatory in March 2024. In August 2024, a compensation decision worth 21.7 billion won was made over the Nexon MapleStory paid item probability manipulation case.
