PS5 Emulator KytyPS5 Boots Marvel's Wolverine Menu
Open-source PS5 emulator KytyPS5 now runs several PS5 games in-game, including a slow-motion menu for Marvel's Wolverine, but full emulation remains years away.
KytyPS5, an open-source PlayStation 5 emulator for PC available on GitHub, has reached a new milestone: it can now boot into the main menu of Marvel's Wolverine. A video posted by X user Jose Coixao shows the menu running in slow motion, though no gameplay is shown. The clip was captured on a PC with an Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU and an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, according to Android Authority.
The Wolverine menu is not the only title making progress. KytyPS5 currently goes in-game in a variety of PS5 titles, including Astro's Playroom, Crash Bandicoot 4, Hitman: World of Assassination, Uncharted 4, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Silent Hill f, Silent Hill 2 Remake, and Tekken 8.
Separately, YouTube channel PSXTech posted a video showing Demon's Souls Remake running gameplay at 40-50fps using an internal or modified build of the emulator. That game only started going in-game less than a month ago. A developer also got Silent Hill 2 Remake running in-game on a PC with an integrated Radeon 840M GPU using KytyPlus, a fork of KytyPS5.
It remains unclear whether the Wolverine video used a forked or modified build of KytyPS5. Despite the rapid progress, users should not expect to emulate PS5 games on Android devices for at least four or five years.
