LEGO to Retire Nintendo Sets December 31, 2026

LEGO will retire eight Nintendo-themed sets, including Animal Crossing and Mario Bros. builds, as the company plans a new Mario Bros. line for early 2027.

LEGO has announced that several Nintendo-themed sets will retire on December 31, 2026, meaning they will no longer be sold directly from the LEGO store after that date. The retiring lineup includes four Animal Crossing sets and four Mario Bros. sets, according to screenrant.com.

Eight new Mario Bros. sets are scheduled to launch in early 2027, LEGO said.

Nintendo and LEGO first collaborated in 2020 with the release of Super Mario Bros. sets. Over the six years since that debut, the partnership has expanded to include builds based on Donkey Kong, Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon, the Game Boy, and the NES.

What the retirement means for collectors

Once retired, the sets will no longer be available through LEGO's own retail channels, though they may remain available through other retailers while stock lasts. LEGO has not yet detailed pricing or specific release dates for the upcoming 2027 Mario Bros. sets.
