Stone Blade announces The Lord of the Rings: Ascension for December 2027
The co-op deck-building spin-off of Ascension spans three sets based on Peter Jackson's films and has raised over $2 million on Kickstarter.
Stone Blade Entertainment has announced The Lord of the Rings: Ascension, a co-op-style deck-building game that spins off the studio's Ascension deck-building title, according to gamerant.com. The game is designed for 1-4 players, and its three sets are targeting a December 2027 release.
Each of the three interconnected sets is based on one of the Lord of the Rings films: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. The bundle of all three sets can be purchased for $150 via Gamefound, with a retail price of $180.
A $499 Deluxe edition adds faux leather-bound containers, an oversized One Ring card, 14 premium acrylic standees, metal runes, and a gold and silver honor coin.
During its Kickstarter campaign, 1,500 backers funded the entire game within four minutes. The campaign has now raised over $2 million from more than 8,000 backers.
Stone Blade's Ascension was co-created by Justin Gary, Rob Dougherty and Brian Kibler. In the past, classic Lord of the Rings games have been re-released, and new films involving the cast from Peter Jackson's trilogy are in the works.
