Lord of the Rings: The King's Gambit Fully Funds on Kickstarter

Restoration Games' board game adaptation of Star Wars: The Queen's Gambit is funded, with delivery estimated for October 2027.

Restoration Games' Kickstarter campaign for The Lord of the Rings: The King's Gambit has been fully funded, according to Screen Rant. The campaign closed a few days before the report, and the game is estimated to be delivered in October 2027.

The board game supports up to four players, with matches averaging 90 to 150 minutes. It is built around four battlefields and two factions: the Servants of the Shadow and the Free Peoples.

A solo mode was designed by Dávid Turczi, and a draft rulebook is available to download through the Kickstarter page. Several editions include miniatures, playmats and location gameboards.

A Late Pledge option remains open on Kickstarter for those who missed the funding period.

The game adapts Star Wars: The Queen's Gambit, the official Star Wars board game released in the early 2000s. Separately, two new Lord of the Rings film projects led by Peter Jackson are in the works, with one reported to be nearly done.
