Magic: The Gathering's Darkhold Destiny Adds New Marvel Character
Wizards' Universes Beyond set, now on pre-order, features a character Magic's team pitched to Marvel, which had been developing a similar idea.
Magic: The Gathering has revealed that Darkhold Destiny, its Marvel Universes Beyond set, introduces a new Marvel character created specifically for the set, according to gamesradar.com. The set is available for pre-order now.
Principal game designer Dillon Deveney said the Magic team pitched the concept of an original Marvel character to Marvel, which accepted because it had been trying to create a similar character itself. The design team brought five pitches to Marvel before arriving at the final character, which came from roughly a hundred ideas discussed.
Darkhold Destiny is Magic's third Marvel crossover and focuses on the supernatural and teamups with a pantheon of gods. Head designer Mark Rosewater and art director Meredith Mulroney are among the team behind it.
The pre-order lineup includes four Commander decks, Play and Collector Boosters, two Scene Boxes, bundles, and a Draft Night set.
