Marvel's Wolverine 1.002 Update Adds Scent Trail Toggle and QSSR on Base PS5

Insomniac Games has released Update 1.002.000 and 1.002.001 for Marvel's Wolverine, nearly a month after the game launched. The patch adds a story-related Scent trail toggle and activates Sony's Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR) feature on the base PlayStation 5.

The new Scent trail option lets players toggle story-related trails using the Hint button, which is mapped to R3 by default. QSSR is turned on by default on the base PS5.

The update also addresses a range of technical issues, including UI, Photo Mode, Out-of-Bounds and visual polish problems. Progression issues and crashes have been fixed, along with accessibility problems tied to Navigation Assist, Lock-On, High Contrast and Screen Reader behavior. Localization issues were also resolved.

Marvel's Wolverine launched on September 15, 2026 for PlayStation 5. Before release, preview events had highlighted gameplay issues such as simplistic boss fights and overly helpful scent trails. Earlier updates toned down the strength of the scent trails and added toggles for optional collectibles like Whiskey Bottles and Material Crate audio clues.

QSSR was added in a core PS5 system update at the start of October. Based on estimates from Rhys Elliot of Alinea Analytics, Marvel's Wolverine earned $130 million in its first three days, making it the sixth highest-grossing new PS5 game of 2026.
