Metro Redux games get free next-gen PC update with DLSS and FSR

The free update for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux covers Windows only; Linux players need Proton to use the new features.

4A Games released free next-gen updates for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux on October 23, 2026, according to GamingOnLinux. The updates shipped for the Windows versions of both games, not for macOS or Linux.

On Linux, players have to run the games through Valve's Proton compatibility layer to reach the new features. The update adds an unbound frame rate, 4A TSR, DLSS and FSR support, screen space global illumination, 4K textures and reworked PBR materials.

Controller support is part of the package too: the update adds adaptive triggers for the DualSense and impulse triggers for Xbox controllers. It also includes a power optimized mode for the Xbox Ally/X and the Microsoft Store version.

Bug fixes and PC defaults

On PS5, the update fixes save corruption that made chapters after "Regina" unavailable. On PC, Advanced PhysX is now enabled by default.

GamingOnLinux noted that its Metro: Last Light Redux Steam Deck check used Proton 7 and will likely need to be run again now that the update is out.
