Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux Get Free PS5 Versions

The Metro Redux Next-Gen Update also brings higher-quality lighting, shadows and textures to Xbox Series X|S and PC, with free upgrades for PS4 owners.

Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux received native PlayStation 5 versions on October 29, 2026, as part of the Metro Redux Next-Gen Update. Owners of the PS4 versions can upgrade to the PS5 versions for free, with no PlayStation Plus subscription required.

On PS5, the games run at true 4K 60 FPS, or upscaled 4K at 120 FPS on supported displays. The PS5 versions also add DualSense adaptive trigger support, and PS5 Pro owners get PSSR support.

The update extends beyond Sony's console, improving the Xbox Series X|S and PC versions as well. It adds higher-quality lighting, shadows, particle effects, textures, animations, sound and geometry, along with screen-space global illumination.

The developer describes the release as a quality-of-life upgrade rather than a remake or remaster.

What comes next for the series

The next mainline entry, Metro 2039, is scheduled to arrive on February 4, 2027.
