Miyamoto Names November 1 Pikmin Day, Unveils Project Updates

The first Pikmin Day brought news on the Pikmin 4 + Dandori Academy port for Switch 2, Pikmin Bloom caverns and a new animated short.

Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto declared November 1 as Pikmin Day, introducing the date during a presentation that also carried updates on several Pikmin projects, according to animenewsnetwork.com.

The first Pikmin Day offered only minor updates on projects already known to players, along with the promise of more Pikmin animated shorts to come.

Among the projects discussed was Pikmin 4 + Dandori Academy, an upcoming port for Nintendo Switch 2. The release will support microphone input, allowing players to give verbal commands to Oatchi.

The port will also host weekly exams every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which can earn rewards for Pikmin Bloom. Those rewards tie into new Bloom expansions featuring caverns with Bulborbs that offer rare items, with rare cavern maps unlocked by taking part in the Dandori Academy exams.

The presentation additionally introduced a new Pikmin animated short featuring a Red Pikmin.

Older context

The original Pikmin was released on the GameCube in 2001, and the entire mainline series is currently available on the Switch.
