Modern Warfare 4 players call DMZ's Possum self-revive overpowered

A day after DMZ went live, clips show fully dead players self-reviving and shooting opponents who had turned away.

Players are calling the Possum operator trait in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's DMZ mode overpowered, one day after the extraction mode launched, according to PC Gamer. The trait lets a player who is already fully dead and lootable revive themselves, which has produced clips of fights turning back around after opponents walk off.

One clip shared on X shows a player killing an opponent, turning away, and then being shot by that same opponent after the revive finished. The YouTuber JGOD also posted a video in which Possum is used to play dead and get back up once the attackers have left.

Possum is distinct from the down-but-not-out state, which every player can use from level 1. After the Possum self-revive completes, the player still has to use a tourniquet to recover from that downed state.

Unlocking the trait does not appear to require much time. Players can head straight for Possum on the Warfighter skill tree and have it within a handful of matches.

Comparable abilities exist elsewhere in the genre. Hunt: Showdown has a similar perk called Necromancer, which can be countered by setting the corpse on fire.
