Switch 2 Modern Warfare 4 Shows 81ms Latency vs PS5's 49ms

Digital Foundry measured 81ms input latency on Switch 2 in docked mode at 60fps, roughly 65% higher than the PS5 version's 49ms.

Digital Foundry has measured notably higher input latency in the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 than in the PlayStation 5 release, according to the outlet's testing. In docked mode running at 60fps, the Switch 2 version recorded 81ms of input latency, compared with 49ms on PS5 at 60Hz.

The docked Switch 2 figure is roughly 65% higher than the PS5 result. Handheld play widens the gap further: the Switch 2 version averaged 100ms of input latency in handheld mode, more than double the PS5's 49ms.

Latency was not the whole picture. Digital Foundry found that the Switch 2 version broadly meets its 60fps target in multiplayer, suggesting frame rate stability and input responsiveness do not necessarily move together on the hardware.

Return to Nintendo hardware

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 was released on October 23, marking the series' return to Nintendo hardware after more than a decade. Technical performance of the Switch 2 version drew attention ahead of launch, with the 60fps target treated as a key requirement.
