Modern Warfare 4 Update Nerfs 4 Weapons, Buffs 9

Infinity Ward's October 28 patch is the first major weapon-balancing update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, and it also fixes a Quick Fix health bug.

Infinity Ward released a new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on October 28, 2026 that weakens four weapons and strengthens nine others, according to gamerant.com. It is the first major weapon-balancing patch for the game.

The nerfed weapons are the Han 86, Oden, APOC-338 and FiNN LMG. Among the buffs, the M4 received a 3% increase to its maximum damage range and the Kastov 762 received an 11% increase. The PPSh-41's aim-down-sights time dropped from 300ms to 280ms, while its arm and hand damage multipliers rose from 0.95 to 1.0. The ISO Nightshade, VEL 46 and Wz.55 Striga also had their arm and hand multipliers raised from 0.95 to 1.0, and the Wz.55 Striga gained 7% to its maximum damage range and 2% to its first mid-damage range.

Attachment tuning also changed: recoil control penalties were reduced by 25% for the EXP Haste 80L Light Barrel and by 20% for the FJX Fury IV Skeleton Grip on the Patriot XMR.

Infinity Ward fixed a bug that let the Quick Fix perk keep regenerating health while the player was taking damage, and reduced diving velocity by 23% as a temporary measure against a movement exploit. Some camo challenges were made easier to complete.

The patch also brings DMZ changes and other multiplayer fixes. During the Modern Warfare 4 beta, Infinity Ward made sweeping time-to-kill adjustments after players raised concerns about how quickly gunfights ended, and said balancing weapon classes would be an ongoing process.
