Netflix Announces The Conjuring: Unspoken, Played With a Phone

Netflix has revealed The Conjuring: Unspoken, a Supermassive Games horror title where a phone acts as the controller, launching exclusively on Netflix on October 13th.

Netflix announced The Conjuring: Unspoken, a horror game set in The Conjuring universe, according to The Verge. The game launches exclusively on Netflix on October 13th.

The Conjuring: Unspoken is played on a TV screen while a phone serves as the controller. Players use the phone to operate ghost-hunting tools, including an electromagnetic field reader, an infrared camera, and a spirit box.

Developed by Supermassive Games, the title is a narrative interactive paranormal investigation in which players choose dialogue options. The story takes place in the historic Red Lion Inn.

Studio context

The announcement follows a difficult period for Supermassive Games. In August, the studio announced plans to lay off up to 75 staffers, and its former IT and facilities director said on LinkedIn yesterday that more than 70 people would be leaving the studio.

Netflix's previous horror game, Unhinged, was developed by Night School and launched in June; Netflix shut that studio down in August.
