Nintendo says memory supply is secure as Switch 2 sales fall 32.7%
Nintendo sold 2.67 million Switch 2 units last quarter and kept its 16 million full-year forecast unchanged, according to its quarterly report.
Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said there has been no major change to the memory supply situation from the company's point of view, speaking during the company's quarterly financial report. The statement was reported by gamedeveloper.com.
Nintendo sold 2.67 million Switch 2 units in the last quarter, a 32.7 percent drop from the previous quarter. The original Switch sold 610,000 units in the same period. Despite the decline, Nintendo kept its Switch 2 forecast unchanged at 16 million units for the financial year.
Software sales rose year-over-year for both Switch 2 and Switch 1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has now reached 72 million copies sold.
Switch 1 winding down in Europe
Nintendo plans to stop selling the Switch 1 in Europe in February. The company's lineup for the current period includes Switch 2 titles Mario Kart World and Pokemon Pokopia, alongside Switch 1 games Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven Groove. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released on Switch 2 on the same day the results were reported.
In September, the Switch 2 price rose in the United States from $450 to $500, driven by rising component prices such as RAM, and Nintendo had previously warned that another Switch 2 price increase could not be ruled out.
