Ocarina of Time Runs on PC and Mac Days After Switch 2 Debut

Hookshot recompiles the game's Arm code into a native Windows build, while Nxnative adds Switch 2 support for Mac.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which released for the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026, is already running on Windows 11 PCs through Switch 2 emulators such as Lichii, a fork of Eglantine, according to xda-developers.com. The game has also been shown running on Mac through Nxnative's new Switch 2 support.

Central to the PC effort is Hookshot, a tool that statically recompiles Ocarina of Time's Arm code into a native Windows game built from the user's own files. It offers 2x, 3x and 4x frame generation, upscaling and ultrawide support.

Hookshot developer NotRexed reports performance of around 50fps without frame generation on a Ryzen 7600X and a GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB. Separately, a video from ItsOOGWAY shows DLSS 5 running on a PC emulating the game via a Lichii fork called Fritzi, a community DLSS 5 manager and Live Flow Multi Frame Generation.

Mac and iPhone builds

Nxnative has been updated with Switch 2 support and runs the game on Mac using ARM64 code directly plus Metal translation, with a clip showing 60fps in the Great Deku Tree. Joe Jiang (@happyjoejiang) also posted an iPhone port of Ocarina of Time running via Nxnative.

Playing the game on PC with an emulator requires legally owning a copy and dumping it from a jailbroken Switch 2.
