Nintendo Quietly Revises Switch 2 With Replaceable Battery, Same Nvidia Chip
A teardown by technician @Modyfikator89 finds a new OSM-CPU-01 motherboard, a different fan and a user-replaceable battery, but no faster graphics or extra RAM.
Nintendo has released a V2 revision of the Nintendo Switch 2 console, according to wccftech.com. A technician who disassembled the new model found a revised motherboard, a different fan variant and a user-replaceable battery compared with the original V1 unit.
The technician, @Modyfikator89, compared the V1 board labeled BEE-CPU-01 with the new OSM-CPU-01 revision. According to the comparison, the V2 model uses the same Nvidia chip revision and the same 12GB of RAM as the V1.
The teardown found no evidence of faster graphics, more RAM or improved cooling in the V2 model. The new revision also does not debut the new Sharp-assembled display panel.
Earlier display reports
Earlier in summer 2026, reports said a new model of the Nintendo Switch 2 LCD panel was in development. The current Switch 2 panel has a response time about 50% slower than the original Switch panel, which causes ghosting in handheld play. During the Nintendo 3DS era, users dealt with a hardware lottery over different display panels.
