OpenCAGE mod tools for Alien: Isolation hit 1.0 on Steam

Creator Matt Filer says the tools now support full custom maps, missions, modes, characters, weapons and total conversion mods.

The OpenCAGE mod tools for Alien: Isolation have reached version 1.0 and can now be downloaded on Steam, according to PC Gamer. The release adds support for full custom maps, missions, modes, characters, weapons, animations, sounds, models and textures.

OpenCAGE creator Matt Filer said the tools can now be used to build full total conversion mods. To demonstrate them, he is making a Halo-themed custom map featuring custom cinematics, enemies, weapons, a new map and a custom HUD.

Filer officially began work on OpenCAGE nine years before the article, after two and a half years spent on prototype versions. The tools stayed publicly available throughout development, which helped Alien: Isolation build up a range of mods.

Among those is a VR mod that works by enabling an unfinished mode that shipped with the game. Creative Assembly developed Alien: Isolation, and a sequel, Alien: Isolation 2, is expected some time in 2027.
