The Pokémon Company Posts 2027 Happy Meal Cards by Mistake
The Pokémon Company shared images of cards intended for the 2027 McDonald's Happy Meal promotion instead of the 2026 set before quickly correcting the announcement.
The Pokémon Company accidentally published images of Pokémon Happy Meal trading cards intended for 2027 when announcing the 2026 McDonald's promotion, according to Polygon. The images were tagged "M27" and appeared in the announcement before the page was updated with the correct assets.
The correction came quickly, but the 2027 card images had already circulated online. McDonald's and The Pokémon Company confirmed a Pokémon Happy Meal promotional event for November 2026, which gives out exclusive Pokémon trading cards and toys.
The 2027 cards pictured in the mistaken post include Bulbasaur, Rowlet and Sprigatito, Charmander and Torchic, Squirtle and Piplup, along with Pikachu, Raichu, Clefairy, Slowpoke, Marill, Gengar, Eevee and Snorlax.
The annual promotion has become a recurring fixture for the two companies. Each year, Pokémon and McDonald's produce exclusive trading cards as part of a promotional event.
Facial recognition technology has been installed at Pokémon Centers in Japan to limit purchases, a measure tied to demand for Pokémon merchandise in the country.
